Excitement is in the air!! The Dream Tour's private rehearsals have rapped up and tonight is the first night that Bruce and the band go public!! Thanks to Hazy Davy for the great photo of Bruce leaving one of the (not so private) rehearsals where several fans had gathered and were treated by Bruce and the band with a little time for autographs and pictures! Thanks for that!! Many fans again were shut out of Ticketmaster... but one lucky fan, who was able to secure a ticket to tonights rehearsal will keep us posted!! I will be following the show live with some of my closest friends! Why don't you join us?!!
While we wait... one of my favorite videos from 21 years ago:
Inspired by yesterday's rehearsal... a few fans went down to see if they could "get a glimpse" and a glimpse is what they got! And I'd like to take a moment to anal-ize Bruce's "JUNK!" What is this I see? Halo: The Cole Protocol by Tobias S. Buckell... (from the "official novels" of the Xbox game! A Tom Waits CD... (nice) but I can't make out the other two... btw, that is no way to treat your CDs, Mr Springsteen! I also see a half full (sugar water) bottle... a little brown black book... and oddly enough, a hair brush... very interesting "junk"... lol One other object I see has me puzzled... so... what's in the box, Bruce? Could it be the pendant that Stan writes about here? (probably not) But anyway... my analysis: What is it that they say about a messy dash? Or was that "desk?" Studies have shown that messy individuals are usually extremely creative as well as very friendly... which leads me to my request of the day: New York City Serenade! Thankfully... from youtube... the Reunion Tour: Aug 11, 1999
One of "THE GREATS" that I haven't seen "live" since 1978...
Another "dream" request of mine for THE DREAM TOUR!
"Now I lost my job at the Texaco station'... Cause instead of pumping gas I'd dream of you... I got thrown out of my house, I got such a bad reputation'... Cause all I wanna do is be seen with you." Yikes!! And so... with springtime and The Dream Tour just around the corner... I Wanna Be With You is my pick for song of the day!! In this "Dream world" what else matters than making it to that show? I know that there are some crazy fans... present company excluded... who have jeopardized a job and even a relationship to quench that burning desire to "be there." "I don't care what they say, go ahead and let 'em all talk" cause "that's what I wanna do... until they will rip out my heart." :o well that is a little extreme... but one of the many reasons I love Bruce's expression of being... he takes you to the edge of extreme... where following your passion... your obsession is the only thing to do... or worth doing in life... where it's okay for your obsession to become life itself... but in order to do that, I'll need to get the "family vacationing" out of the way. Shhhh... I mustn't show my urgency to get back to "life itself!" In just under 3 weeks I'll be getting that first call... from San Jose!! I'll hear that growl of a voice and know that this Dream is just beginning!! Join us following the "set list" if you have time!! I have a little over a month till my first show in LA! ROAD TRIP!! Hey Bruce... push over and move them big feat!! That reminds me... I haven't even thought about which shoes I should wear... let alone which songs I'm aching to hear!! But without a doubt, "'Til the world falls apart... I Wanna Be With YOU!!!" and The Fever!! (and FOR YOU!) ;)
"I just can't understand it, you're not pretty at all...
But I come when you whisper, I run when you call...
Do you remember the first time you heard The Fever live? I do... as a matter of fact it was the first time I had ever heard anything by Bruce Springsteen... Aug 30, 1978... On that special night I'd not only get The Fever once... but twice. I'm sure that you know the story... after Bruce's show at the Coliseum, Miami Steve rushed to The Cleveland Agora where his second job was waiting... he was the guitarist for Southside Johnny... and Johnny was waiting. Surprised when Bruce showed up with Miami... Johnny dedicated The Fever to Bruce just before Bruce joined him on stage!! Two shows in one night!! Two "Fevers" in one night... I'd never recover!! That same tour, sadly... would also be the last time that I've heard The Fever live... it was The Last Night of Darkness in 1978... but it wasn't the last time that Bruce has played it... A new video on youtube makes it possible to experience this soulful live performance at Bruce's "Big" 50th Birthday Show in Philly Sept 24, 1999.
I wish I had been paying more attention... then maybe I would have know that the ESB had reunited... maybe... just maybe we'll get to here The Fever live on The Dream Tour!!

In this massive world of the Internet... with multitudes of blogs to sort through... all reaching out to the masses... pouring out vast amounts of knowledge to literally thousands of readers... with site meters registering numbers as egos are fed... I have to stop myself from being sucked into the vacuum of blogging for numbers.
